About Protective Services

The Protective Services Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our primary goal is the protection of the university community, students, employees and visitors. Services include the investigation of reported crimes and disturbances; development of crime prevention related materials and activities; and patrol and inspection of buildings and university grounds.

Protective Services’ authority extends to incidents occurring on state property only. The city of Stevens Point Police Department has jurisdiction on city streets. When necessary, city police are called for arrests. Whenever possible, Protective Services is notified of any problems on state property before city police. If you are stopped or approached by security or police, do not run or hide. Be courteous and cooperative. All law enforcement personnel are there to serve and protect the public.
