  • Professor Blakeman is finishing on a book on federalism and the Supreme Court, co-authored with Professor Chris Banks of Kent State University  and under contract with Rowman & Littlefield. The book is titled The U.S. Supreme Court and New Federalism:  From the Rehnquist to the Roberts Court, and will be in print in spring 2012.

About

Prof. Blakeman grew up in southeastern Kentucky in the heart of Appalachia.  While he's lost his hillbilly twang, he retains his Alvin York outlook on life.  Prof. Blakeman loves to fish and from time to time tries to advise and coach the UWSP Men's Rugby Club.  He's a former rugby player himself​, having played for Wake Forest Univ., Univ. of Glasgow, Hampstead (North London), and the infamous Waco Geezers (Waco, Texas).  He advised and coached the Men's Rugby Club at Baylor University, and helped coach them to the USA Rugby Collegiate Division II National Championship in 2001.  Blakeman is an IRB certified rugby referee with degenerating eyesight and most recently refereed in London​ with the London Society of Rugby Referees. He previously taught at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and has been at UWSP since 2003.​
