Summer 2011:
  • The Pointer Compact development committee began its work in the differential tuition planning process


September 2011:

  • A draft of The Pointer Compact and supporting materials was developed


October 2011:

  • A cross-campus educational campaign surrounding The Pointer Compact began

    • Deans met with student organizations in their respective colleges

    • The Student Government Association worked with student organizations under its operations

    • The Residence Hall Association leaders met with student organizations in the residence halls

    • Informational open forums for the entire campus were held

  • By mid-October 2011, the UW System Administration’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Planning was notified of UWSP’s intent to submit a differential tuition plan beginning fall 2012


November 2011:

  • The Chancellor presented a draft of The Pointer Compact to the November Systemwide Chancellors’ meeting for an initial review


December 2011:

  • The Chancellor presented another draft of The Pointer Compact to the December Systemwide Chancellors’ meeting for a second review, if any changes were made since the November meeting

  • A draft of The Pointer Compact was sent to UW System’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Planning

Spring 2012:

  • Pointer Compact tabled in Assembly Colleges Committee
  • Student presented to Board of Regents Finance Committee

Fall 2012:

  • SGA Leadership began regular meetings with members of the Board of Regents about the Pointer Compact and other student issues.

Spring 2013:

SGA initiates second cross-campus education, advocacy, and feedback campaign

  • SGA leadership concluded meetings with every member of the Board of Regents
  • Ongoing education of Pointer Compact to student organization members
  • Tabling in the Dreyfus University Center and DeBot Dining Center
  • Meetings with residents and student leadership in Residence Halls
  • Campus newspaper and radio coverage
  • Accesible information on the Pointer Compact circulated, online and on paper
  • Four Open Forums on the Pointer Compact
  • Meetings with Deans, Faculty, Administration and other staff on plan coordination
  • Students traveled to Madison to lobby in March and April
  • Students testified at Joint Finance Committee meeting
  • Participated in call-in days to legislature

May 2013: 

  • SGA concludes student input outreach plan  
  • SGA Senate projected to vote on the Pointer Compact

Summer 2013:

  • Pending SGA Senate confirmation, students will present the Pointer Compact to the Board of Regents for approval

Fall 2013:

  • Pointer Compact Advisory Board convenes and prepared for implementation

Spring 2013:

  • Graduated implementation of the Pointer Compact begins
