Reading papers at conferences is an important part of philosophical research. Many of these papers have either been published or are being prepared for publication.

In October 2001, I spent a week at the Salzburg Seminar as a Fellow for Session 392 on the theme of Biotechnology: Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues.
I returned to the Salzburg Seminar in June 2002 to participate in the Fifth Symposium of the Freeman Foundation on the theme of East Asia and the United States: A Search for Common Values, during which I spoke as a panelist at a session on "Healthcare Ethics across Cultures".
