Civil Service Exams

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Pre-registration is now required for all monthly Civil Service exams given at the exam centers throughout the state.  The deadline for pre-registration is Wednesday, December 2, 2009.  After December 2, you will no longer be able to pre-register or view the job announcement.  If you have not pre-registered, an exam booklet is not guaranteed.

 

The following is a list of Civil Service exams scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2009 for classifications used on this campus:

      Information on pre-registration is in the “How To Apply” section of the job announcement. Applicants will receive confirmation after they have pre-registered.  Bring your confirmation letter to the exam site with you.  The letter is your ticket into the exam.  If you forget the letter, please see a proctor and confirm that you are pre-registered.  If you are on the proctor’s list, you will be allowed to test.  If you are not on the list, you may be asked to wait until pre-registered applicants are checked in.  Only pre-registered applicants are guaranteed an exam booklet.  Walk-in applicants may be allowed to take the exam if extra exam booklets and space are available. 

 

 

 

 

 

Food Retail/Catering Leader 3 (75%)

 

UWSP is seeking candidates for a Food Retail/Catering Leader 3 position in University Dining Services.  Responsibilities will include daily execution and tracking of all events scheduled within the catering division of University Dining Services including meetings, conferences, banquets, weddings, off-campus events and receptions with both food and bar service.  The position will be responsible for supervising all aspects of catered events including scheduling, preparation, set-up, service, breakdown, and clean-up.  This is a 75% position and the hours will be 40 hours a week during the academic year, with the possibility of some summer hours.  The ability to work a schedule of various days and hours is required.

Applicants must have successfully completed the ServSafe Exam by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association within the last three years, OR are eligible for certification upon hire.  Applicants must also possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's license upon appointment and a bartending license, or be eligible to obtain a bartending license upon appointment.

 

Applicants must have knowledge of banquet catering operations and event planning and basic knowledge of alcohol service regulations and legal age enforcement issues.  Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, interact courteously with customers, and handle and solve customer complaints and requests.  Must have the ability to supervise employees and have knowledge of methods to motivate employees, staffing guidelines and techniques of the tools and equipment used in food preparation and service.

Executive Chef

 

UWSP is seeking candidates for an Executive Chef position in University Dining Services.  Responsibilities will include menu development, food production and presentation, and overall kitchen management.  The position will supervise the Catering Manager, kitchen production staff and provide training and development of the student staff assigned to these units.  The ability to work a schedule of various days and hours is required.

 

An associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent combination of formal education and experience at the executive chef level is required.  Well qualified applicants will have five to seven years of professional experience in a university dining program.  Must have proven experience with production and kitchen management including forecasting, menu development and costing, purchasing, and human resource management.  Demonstrated experience with computerized menu management programs.  Commitment to working with and serving diverse populations and to a program that emphasizes sustainability and local initiatives.  SafeServ certification is also required.

 

The starting salary is between $45,088 and $74,397 annually, depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefit package. Click here to review the position description.

Financial Specialist 3

 

UWSP is seeking candidates for a Financial Specialist 3 - Project Appointment position in the Perkins Loan Office.  This is a full-time, temporary position with the project scheduled to end on November 9, 2010.  The starting salary is $16.338 per hour with an excellent benefit package.  Click here to review the position description.

 

This position will assist in the daily functions of the Perkins Loan office, act as a liaison between the office and the third party billing service, including collection agencies.  Responsibilities include maintenance of records within automated campus- based systems, including records interfaced with other campus-based systems; performing various monthly and annual reconciliations; and, preparing various financial reports.

 

The position requires the knowledge of general accounting principles and an understanding of loan programs and collection activity.  Must have above average computer skills and mathematical skills.  Must be detailed oriented, have the ability to handle multiple deadlines and the ability to make independent judgments.

Limited-Term Employment

UWSP is accepting applications for limited-term employment (LTE) that may occur anywhere on campus during the next six to twelve months. Most LTE positions are temporary, part-time positions with very limited benefits. Hourly pay rates normally range from $8.00 to $12.00 per hour depending on the responsibilities of the job. Knowledge of word processing software is required for most clerical positions. Custodial/cleaning experience is preferred for Custodian positions.  Applications are kept on file for approximately one year.
