Fox World Travel - Travelport

 Beginning October 1st, 2007, all airfare booked online must be purchased through Travelport.

The State of Wisconsin has awarded a contract for online booking of airfare to Fox World Travel, Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  The contract is mandatory meaning that all UW business-related air travel booked online must utilize Fox World Travel’s online booking product called “Travelport”.

You may continue to use a “brick & mortar travel” agency of your choice (i.e. Marathon Travel) or book airfare by telephone directly with an airline. 

October 1, 2007 is the official implementation date for this contract at UW Stevens Point.  Airfare that was previously purchased and purchases through September 30th are not subject to the mandatory contract requiring the use of Travelport. 

The associated costs and benefits of using Travelport are summarized below:

Cost:

  • $7.00 per online reservation which requires no agent assistance
  • $18.00 per online reservation when agent assistance is required or a change needs to be made to an existing airline reservation
  • $29.00 if you call Fox World Travel and have them book the reservation for you - using them as a brick and mortar agency as opposed to an online booking

Benefits:

UW System policies and travel contracts embedded in Travelport

  • Access to web fares offered on the major carriers web sites
  • Electronic fare auditor which searches for and rebooks lower fares as found
  • Unused ticket inventory which allows usage of ticket value toward future trips
  • 24 hour traveler assistance
  • Employees allowed to earn frequent flyer points for future business travel*
  • Corporate frequent flyer points earned for the UW toward free tickets
  • Ability to book hotel and rental car with airfare reservation
  • Ability to cancel a purchased non-refundable ticket by 5:00 PM the following business day without penalty.  Cancellations may be done on Travelport.  Agent fee is non-refundable.
  • Regularly scheduled Travelport web-based familiarization sessions
* The policy on use of frequent flyer benefits has not changed (Ref III A 7 UW Travel Regs).
