Commuter Central
TOPIC OF THE MONTH | PARKING | FOOD | GET INVOLVED! | RESOURCES
Welcome to the Commuter Center, where our goal is to make your
experience at UWSP enjoyable and memorable! As a commuter student it is
still possible to get the full college experience. This Webpage has been
designed with you in mind to provide you with information and resources
to make this possible. We encourage you to
take advantage of
all that UWSP has to offer and to get involved through student
organizations, employment opportunities and events.
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has many places to hang
out in between classes and events. Some of the top spots to hang out are
the LRC, Brewhaus, Dreyfus University Center, CPS Cafe, Food for
Thought Cafe, Lower DeBot, and Noel Fine Arts Center, just to name a
few.
There are also lots of things to see and do in the City of Stevens
Point. Take some time to check out the city and all it has to offer like
disc golfing at Mead Park, a variety of restaurants and shops, movie
theatres, nature trails, and so much more!
Getting Connected!
National studies indicate the success a student has in college is
directly related to how "connected" they are to their campus. Living
off-campus can be comforting as you enter this new part of your life,
but we also want to encourage you to try some new and different things!
UWSP offers TONS of opportunities to all students! Take a look at our
"Get Involved" section to see upcoming events.
At the very least, we encourage you to attend the Involvement
and Volunteer Fair on Thursday, September 15. Commuter students are
invited to meet at the south entrance of the Allen Center to connect
with other commuter students and then to walk over to the Dreyfus
University Center (DUC). The Involvement & Volunteer Fair will have
over 100 booths from student organizations, campus departments, and
local non-profit agencies who are interested in recruiting new members
and/or volunteers.
Other ways to get connected at UWSP:
- Join the club related to your major
- Participate in intramurals
- Get an on-campus job (www.uwsp.edu/centersi/sieo - then select QUEST)
- Participate in one of our many volunteer opportunities
Make the most of your time at UWSP - get involved. For more information on getting connected, please email Susan LeBow at
slebow@uwsp.edu.
Parking
There

are
many options for parking on and around campus such as two hour parking,
metered parking, and parking in UWSP lots with a permit (
http://www.uwsp.edu/parking/Pages/lotMap.aspx). Make sure to plan ahead and leave about 20 minutes to find a good spot and still have time to get to class.
Paying a Parking Citation: http://www.uwsp.edu/parking/Pages/citations.aspxCitation
payments can be made online with a credit or debit card, in-person at
the Parking Services Office (Stien Building), via the US Mail (postage
required), campus mail (no postage required), or deposited into the
purple fine boxes located across campus. The yellow fine boxes are for
citations issued by the Stevens Point Police Department.
Food On Campus
There are many different options for dining while you are at UWSP. Campus dining is available to all
UWSP
students, not just those living on campus. You can purchase an
off-campus meal plan that can be used in upper and lower DeBot, the DUC
Food Court, the Homegrown Cafe, and the Food for Thought Cafe. There are
a number of sit-down and fast food restaurant in the university area.
