For adults:
The Special Needs Aquatic Program (SNAP) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will offer classes for adults this winter.
The classes are designed for adults with arthritis, older adults looking for a low impact workout or adults with disabilities. The session will be held from Jan. 24 through March 17 and costs $40. Classes are held twice a week on Monday and Thursday.
The 45-minute classes are held in the therapeutic pool in the Health Enhancement Center on the UWSP campus, adjacent to the Quandt Fieldhouse on Fourth Avenue. The Basic Aquatic Exercise class will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. The Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program classes will be held at 10 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and a new class will begin at 5:25 p.m. The Deep Water Exercise class will be held at 8 a.m.

For infants and toddlers:
Registration for winter swimming classes for children ages six months to five years, will be by mail only, on a first come, first served basis at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Special Needs Aquatic Program (SNAP) classes are for children of all abilities accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children may gain an initial positive water experience, learn safety skills in and around water, plus have fun. A five-week session will be held from February 9 through March 9.
Classes for infant and toddlers, six months to three years, will be held Wednesdays from 4:50 to 5:20 p.m.
Preschool classes for toddlers, three to five years of age, will be held Wednesday evenings from 5:25 to 6 p.m.
Early registration is advised, as program space is limited. The session costs $30. All classes are held at the therapeutic pool in the Health Enhancement Center (HEC) and will be taught by American Red Cross certified water safety instructor Joanne Suomi.

For registration and more information, contact Rory Suomi of the School of Health, Exercise Science and Athletics at 715-346-2706.
