Norwegian Dancers to perform at UW-Stevens Point

Stoughton Norwegian Dancers will perform at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 6, at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The performance in the University Center Laird Room, sponsored by Watson Hall and Multicultural Affairs, is open to the public free of charge.

The dance group of high school students was established in 1952 to celebrate Syttende Mai (May 17), Norwegian Independence Day. Its generations of members have been enthusiastically dancing in the Norwegian tradition for more than 50 years. They are known as Stoughtons "Good Will Ambassadors." The dancers have performed locally as well as at Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Norway. The groups performances include precision dancing, gymnastics and humor, plus a rich appreciation for Norwegian heritage.

For more information, please call Laurie Graboski-Bauer at the Multicultural Resource Center at 715-346-4737, or email at lgrabosk@uwsp.edu.
