Worths establish jazz endowment at UW-Stevens Point
Jazz music enthusiasts and long-time friends of UWSP, Bob and Marilyn Worth, have established a $10,000 jazz program endowment in the College of Fine Arts and Communication. The endowment will provide funding to assist the UWSP jazz ensemble, as well as the jazz studies program in the Department of Music.
According to Bob Kase, department chair, proceeds from the endowment gift will be used for student scholarships or other program expenses that help assist the jazz program. "We are grateful for Bob and Marilyns generosity and enthusiasm for the jazz program," said Kase. "Their gift will strengthen our program and allow even more opportunities for our student musicians. The Worths are great supporters of the university, and especially the Department of Music."
In 1991 Bob Worth established the Robert Worth Jazz Percussion Scholarship at UWSP. Since that year he has increased the scholarship fund from its original $3,000 donation. Worth himself is an accomplished musician who has been playing jazz since the 1950s.
The Worths have been active and ongoing supporters of a wide variety of academic pursuits at UWSP including the Division of Communication, the College of Natural Resources, UWSPs Natural History Museum, UWSP Open House and others.
