Rousseau elected to WAEOPP’s executive board

Melvin Rousseau, director of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Education Support Program, has been named to the executive board of the Wisconsin Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (WAEOPP) as president-elect of the organization.

Rousseau will fulfill a three-year commitment as president-elect, president and past-president. WAEOPP’s current president, Nancy Harrison of UW-Manitowoc and UW-Sheboygan, recently informed Rousseau of his selection.

"To be part of a state association in which colleagues share the same passion and commitment toward advancing educational opportunity for disadvantaged students is both exciting and rewarding," said Rousseau. "Our greatest challenge is to give disadvantaged students the tools needed to successfully compete in an ever changing job market."

WAEOPP’s mission is to bring educators and professionals together to promote educational access for disadvantaged and first-generation college aspirants. The association’s activities include conferences and workshops in areas such as language, mathematics and science instruction, academic counseling, financial aid opportunities, and other areas that target professional and program development.
