Military science students recognized during spring military ball

The Department of Military Science at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) will recognize six students at its annual ball on Saturday, March 8.

The event will be held at the Stevens Point Country Club, beginning with a social hour at 5 p.m. UWSP Provost and Vice Chancellor Mark Nook will give remarks at 8 p.m.

The six cadets will be commissioned officers right after commencement. All UWSP seniors, names of the cadets and their assignments follow:

Cadet Curtis Zivicki, Stevens Point, is majoring in American studies with a minor in military science and plans to graduate in December. He has been accepted onto Active Duty and assigned to the U.S. Army’s Ordinance Branch. Zivicki resides in Stevens Point with his wife, Becky, and is a graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High School.

Cadet Kyle Bender, Wausau, is a business administration major with minors in accounting, economics, and military science. He plans to graduate in May and will join the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps. He is a 2004 graduate of Wausau Newman High School.

Cadet James Gruenewald, Green Bay, is majoring in biology with a minor in military science. He plans to graduate in May and will join the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps and will attend basic training at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

Cadet Scott Schreiber, Hortonville, is majoring in history with a minor in military science. He plans to graduate in May and will join the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He is a 2004 graduate of Weyauwega-Fremont High School.

Cadet Emily Urban, Mountain, is majoring in political science with a minor in military science and plans to graduate in May. She will join the Wisconsin National Guard Ordnance Corps. Urban is a 2004 graduate of Suring High School.

Cadet Abbey Paton, Sussex, is majoring in biology (emphasis pre-dentistry), with minors in military science and chemistry. She plans to graduate in May. She is a 2004 graduate of Hamilton High School.
