Manzke named executive assistant to the chancellor
Robert Manzke, leadership and employment development coordinator for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point�s Point (UWSP) Student Involvement and Employment Office (SIEO), has just been named executive assistant to Chancellor Linda Bunnell.
A native of Seymour, he joined UWSP�s administrative ranks in July 2000 as SIEO�s assistant manager. Over the past six years he has held numerous positions within student affairs including adviseor for the campus� Association for Community Tasks (ACT) on campus, and leadership and employment development coordinator since 2004.
"Rob has been preparing for this career step and I believe he is more than ready and qualified to meet the daily rigors this position demands in a modern academic institution," said Chancellor Bunnell. "His experience in student affairs, combined with his growing body of work in university and community relations, gives Rob the foundation necessary to succeed at the highest administrative levels here at UWSP."
Manzke�s experiences beyond his SIEO work includes marketing and promotion, university relations, community relations, budget oversight, student and staff supervision, information systems, campus-wide event planning, leadership and employment events, and extensive software and computer knowledge.
He is was an adjunct faculty member for Mid-State Technical College where he teaches taught oral and interpersonal communication from 2004-2006. In addition, he was a co-researcher of youth voter registration strategies with John Blakeman, assistant professor of political science at UWSP.
His service to university governance includes committee work with UWSP�s accreditation committee, student affairs mediation committee, the American Democracy Project, Open House, the University and Chancellor Leadership Awards, and is the chancellor�s liaison for the Wisconsin Campus Compact.
The community also receives a good measure of his time and attention as past president of the Greater Portage County Rotary Club, United Way Volunteer Center advisory board member, , marketing committee member for Leadership Portage County�s marketing committee member, and vice presidenchairt for of the campus� Wesley Foundation. He, and also was a member of the Portage County Job Center advisory board.
In 2001 he Manzke was named the Jim Campbell "rookie of the year" by the National Student Employment Association. He was named advisoer of the year by UW � -La Crosse�s residence hall association in 1999.
Prior to joining UWSP, Manzke held various academic positions at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse, UW-La Crosse, and Winona State University in Minnesota. A 1997 graduate of UWSP, he earned his master�s degree in education at UW-La Crosse in 1999.
Rob Manzke and his wife, Amanda, reside in Plover with their two young sons, Ethan and Seth. She Amanda is a school psychologist for the Wisconsin Rapids school system.
