Annual events mark Black History Month at UW-Stevens Point

The annual Soul Food Dinner and Gospel Festival, events marking Black History Month, have been scheduled at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP).

The dinner, hosted by the Black Student Union and UWSP�s Multicultural Affairs, will be held at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.), Sunday, Feb. 9 in the University Center Laird Room.

The Gospel Festival, featuring the True Praise Chorale from Milwaukee and the Lane Tech Gospel Choir of Chicago, will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 1, at Good News Fellowship Church, 801 Highway 10 West.

Admission to the dinner is $10 for the public and $5 for UWSP students with ID and for children eight and under. Admission to the festival is $5 for the public and $3 for children and UWSP students with ID. Tickets for both events are available at the University Box Office in the University Center or by phone at (715) 346-4100 or (800) 838-3378, and at the door.

After the dinner, the Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago will perform at 7 p.m. The soul food menu will include fried chicken, collard greens, red beans and rice, catfish, baked macaroni and cheese, jambalaya, candied yams, corn bread, Kool Aid and dessert.
