MEDIA ADVISORY: Roundtable discussions on U.S./Russian relations, March 7 & 11

What: Two upcoming events in Stevens Point will focus on the March 2 presidential elections in Russia.

The first event takes place Friday, March 7, from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in Room 107 at the University Library at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). This will be an installment of UW-Madison Alumni Associations Global Hot Spots lecture series, which features a Russian political expert speaking directly via phone link from the New Economic School in Moscow. Scott Gehlbach, professor of political science at UW-Madison, will provide a live discussion of the presidential elections.

The second event is a roundtable discussion on the results of the Russian elections and the implications for relations between the U.S. and Russia. The current political and social climate in Russia after eight years under President Putin will also be discussed. Led by Charles Clark, Russian historian and associate dean of the College of Letters and Science at UWSP, the discussion will be held in the Pinery Room of the Charles M. White Library, Stevens Point, on Tuesday, March 11, from 4:30 - 5:30 pm.

Both events are sponsored by the Russian Sister City Project and the College of Letters and Science.
