MEDIA ADVISORY: Letters and Science undergraduate student research symposium

Who: College of Letters and Science (L&S) undergraduates present research and posters at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

What: The eighth annual College of Letters and Science undergraduate student research symposium will take place on Saturday, April 26. The symposium will open with remarks by L&S Dean Lance Grahn at 8:45 a.m. in the Science Building, room A121.

Oral presentations are from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. and from 11 a.m. – noon. Poster presentations are from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Presentations will explore issues such as biodiversity in the Amazon, parasites in freshwater mollusks, Lyme disease in the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest, water quality on freshwater prawns, the Kyoto Protocol on climate change, British satire during the American Revolution, a sociological analysis of professional wrestling, stars of the Mayan sky, various molecular student research projects from biology students, liverworts of Portage and Waupaca County, various chemistry student research projects, early life on land in the Late Cambrian era, lava tree research in Hawaii, parental involvement in students’ academic activities, justice in the realm of values and politics, what do Millennial students expect in the college classroom, and much more.
