The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra will host the 12^th annual Central Wisconsin Honors Orchestra Festival on Thursday, February 8.

String players from seven regional high schools will participate. All with string programs, the schools include Lincoln (Wisconsin Rapids), Marshfield, Wausau East, Wausau West, D.C. Everest (Schofield), Shawano and Stevens Point Area Senior High.

The festival will culminate with a concert at 7:30 p.m. at Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center. The performance will feature the D.C. Everest High School Orchestra, the Festival Orchestra and the combined Festival/UWSP Symphony Orchestra. The concert is open to the public free of charge.

The event brings the area�s top high school string players to campus for a day of master classes, clinics, rehearsals and performances. Students will work with UWSP Director of Orchestral Activities Patrick Miles in the morning, then move on to their individual instrumental sections in the afternoon. The high school students will also work side-by-side with the Symphony Orchestra.
