UWSP Concert Band to perform

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Concert Band will perform on Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center.

Part of the Music Department Scholarship Series, admission is $6.75 for the general public, $3.75 for senior citizens, $2.75 for youth and free the day of the concert for students with UWSP IDs. Tickets are available at the University Box Office at 200 Division St., or by calling (715) 346-4100 or (800) 838-3378. Visa, MasterCard or Discover is accepted. Tickets may also be purchased at the door if seats are available.

A pre-concert discussion will be held in Michelsen Hall at 6:30 p.m.

The band will share the stage with the Manitowoc Lincoln High School Band, directed of Micah Hoffman, and the UWSP Faculty Chamber Ensemble. The ensemble will perform "Dead Elvis," a composition inspired by Stravinsky�s "L�Histoire du Soldat," with the solo role performed by Patricia Holland, professor of bassoon, who will be dressed as Elvis Presley.

The Concert Band will perform Holst�s "First Suite in E flat," Bernstein�s "Overture to Candide" and Mennin�s "Canzona."
