Wisconsin Learning Center offer winter courses
February workshops at the Wisconsin Learning Center in Stevens Point will focus on assertiveness, effective fund-raising and creativity as well as computer skills.
The workshops and seminars include:
Effective Fundraising and Development:
Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., includes lunch, $14 per session or $75 for the series:
Overview of Fundraising and Development, Jan. 27.
Working with Boards and Volunteers - Examine tested ways to work with an organization�s most important asset, Feb. 3.
Special Events - Plan effective and efficient events, Feb. 10.
Major Gifts - Learn a step-by-step process for successful major gift fund raising, Feb. 17.
Planned Giving - Work on a plan to start or enhance a planned giving program without financial expertise, Feb. 24.
Create and Innovate:
Mondays, 10 a.m. to noon, $40 per session, $150 for the series.
Brainstorming with Variations -- Learn how to brainstorm and focus ideas, Feb. 14.
Making the Familiar Strange and the Strange Familiar -- How to apply creative ideas to existing situations, Feb. 21.
Making a List - Checking it Twice, Thrice and More -- Learn to make checklists and prioritizing them, Feb. 28.

Effective Business Writing: Portray a polished and professional image with top-notch writing skills! Improve email messages, reports, proposals, letters, memos and other workplace writing with techniques to improve clarity, conciseness and impact. Participants will submit three or four samples of writing one week prior to the workshop, Wednesday, Feb. 16, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., includes lunch, $139.
Tax Expo:
Confused About Business Taxes? Learn about federal and state taxes, including payroll, unemployment compensation and sales taxes, Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1 to 4 p.m., $25.
The Wisconsin Learning Center (WLC) is located in the Portage County Business Park adjacent to Interstate 39 on Highway HH. The WLC is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Mid-State Technical College to offer the latest technology, experienced instructors and high quality, affordable classes. Customized WLC seminars are available on a variety of subjects, from computer applications to Heartsaver CPR, and may be done wherever and whenever the training is needed.
