Hmong cultural arts and artists featured at annual conference

Hmong cultural arts and artists will be featured at the annual conference sponsored by the Hmong and Southeast Asian American Club (HaSEAAC), Saturday, Feb. 21 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. 

"Paj Ntaub" (story cloth), Hmong Cultural Arts & Artists" is the theme of the event from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the University Center Laird Room.  It is open to the public without charge. Storyteller, rap artist and comedian Tou Ger Xiong will perform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., also in the Laird Room. Admission to the performance, sponsored by Centertainment Productions, is $5.

Speakers will include MaiKer Vang who will discuss "Story Cloth;" Mai Neng Moua, "Contemporary and Folklore Writers;" Jim Harris, "Artifacts from Laos;" Vilay Her, "Translation of Hmong Music;" and Blong Yang, "Journalistic View of Hmong Issues and Contemporary Writing."
