An alumna of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has returned to campus as the Director of Marketing Services for UWSP Extension.
Susan DeRouchey, 51 Park Ridge Drive, will be responsible for market research, needs assessment and impact analysis as well as oversight of UWSP Extension image, e-business and marketing on the Web, and supervision of communication between customers and extensions customer service unit. She succeeds Barbara Inch who retired last summer.
A 1979 graduate of UWSP with double majors in communication and German, DeRouchey has 20 years of marketing experience in the public and private sectors. She formerly worked for Weyerhaeuser Door Division - Marshfield, National Wellness Institute, Sunrise Medical Continuing Care Group and M&I Bank - Wausau, as well as other companies in the Midwest and California.
DeRouchey, who holds a masters degree in advertising and integrated marketing from Northwestern University, also has completed the product management course at UW-Madison Extensions Management Institute.
While a student at UWSP in the 1970s, she was a residence hall assistant, campus orientation leader and member of the Writing Lab staff.
"Its a new world in education and the opportunities for promoting lifelong learning through UWSP Extension are exciting, DeRouchey says. I look forward to building on the success of UWSP, helping to meet adult learning and workforce development needs, and building partnerships with people and businesses in the many communities we serve."
According to Joan Sosalla, interim assistant vice chancellor of UWSP Extension, "Susan has marketing expertise that will lead us in creating a bridge from our excellent adult instruction to the business and industry population. She has the right mix of knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and experience to help UWSP showcase our programs, certificates, workshops and services for adults and their families."
An area resident for the past 13 years, DeRouchey resides in Park Ridge with her husband, Philip Venzke, an alumnus of UWSP. Venzke is the technology manager for the Badgerland Client Service Center of Clifton Gunderson LLP.
DeRouchey serves on the University Relations Advisory Group, is a member of extensions administrative leadership team, provides leadership for the Web team, customer service team and program council. She also serves as a volunteer for the Stevens Point Meals on Wheels program.
