DONATE BLOOD, HELP SAVE LIVES IN YOUR COMMUNITY

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Points Association for Community Tasks will sponsor a community blood drive on behalf of The Blood Center on Tuesday, Feb. 15 and Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the University Center Laird Room. The blood drive starts at 10:30 a.m. and donors will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on both days. The public is encouraged to donate.

"When you donate blood with The Blood Center you help keep blood flowing throughout the community and contribute to a safe, continuous supply of blood to meet patient needs in area hospitals. If you or a loved one needs blood, whether it be for a preplanned surgery, or an emergency situation, it is The Blood Center that ensures the blood is there," said Todd Abner, director of Donor Recruitment.

Anyone 17 or older in good health can donate blood. Simple and safe, donating blood takes only an hour. It includes registration, a mini health exam, a six to ten minute donation period and relaxing in the canteen. Donors can give every 56 days.

As the provider of blood to 54 hospitals in 25 Wisconsin Counties, The Blood Center reminds the community to donate the life-saving gift during this upcoming blood drive. Wisconsin patients, people in need of surgery or those involved in auto and other accidents, rely on a ready supply of blood provided by the donations of generous volunteers.

If you would like to schedule an appointment for the blood drive on February 15 and 16, please call The Blood Center toll free at 1-888-310-7555.
