Central Wisconsin educator named to Board of Visitors

A retired Central Wisconsin educator was named to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Board of Visitors (BOV) by the UW System Board of Regents at its monthly meeting recently.

DuWayne R. Kleinschmidt, 304 Bel-Aire Drive, Wausau, was appointed to a three-year term. The board advises and assists UWSP administrators in communicating with the public, government officials, alumni, faculty and students as well as counseling UWSP’s chancellor on ways to enhance the university.

A retired director of secondary education with the Wausau Public Schools, Kleinschmidt is a 1965 UWSP alumnus who holds a master’s degree from Utah State University. In addition, he has pursued graduate studies in educational administration at UW-Madison.

He is a former secondary mathematics teacher who also coordinated mathematics for the Wausau School District.

An educational consultant, Kleinschmidt has served as president of the Wisconsin Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and was named a Distinguished Mathematics Educator by the Wisconsin Mathematics Council. Named an outstanding alumnus of the UWSP School of Education, he is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Kleinschmidt also sits on the Wausau Performing Arts Foundation Board of Directors.
