UW-Stevens Point students intern at Wisconsin Public Radio

Three students from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point are spending the spring semester interning at the Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) central bureau in Wausau.

Throughout the semester, the students will provide a variety of services for the stations in the central region which include 90.9 WHRM-FM, 91.9 WLBL-FM, 930 WLBL-AM, and 90.3 WHBM-FM.

The students from UWSP involved in the WPR intern program, by hometown, are:

  • Stevens Point- Wayne Zelhofer is a graduate of Pacelli High School. A senior majoring in communication with emphasis in media and technology studies at UWSP, he will work in corporate sponsorship and marketing at WPR.
  • Wausau- Mark Keller is a graduate of Wausau East High School. A senior majoring in communication with interpersonal and organizational emphasis, Keller will produce feature stories about the region. For one such story, he recently interviewed staff at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau about an unusual exhibit featuring the works of glass sculptor William Morris.  Keller�s eight-minute radio tour will take listeners through some of the most curious pieces of the exhibit and reveal the man behind the work.  The finished piece, titled "William Morris," was broadcast regionally on 90.9 WHRM-FM, Wausau, on February 11 during Morning Edition.
  • Keshena- JoAnne Gauthier is a junior majoring in communication-Media & Technology Studies. She will co-produce the regional call-in show "Route 51" while also sharing on-air duties.
