Comedian performs at UW-Stevens Point

Stand-up comedian Val Kappa will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 8 p.m., Thursday Feb. 24.

The Centertainment Productions event in the Encore of the University Center (UC) will be $4 for the general public and free with a UWSP ID.

Kappa, a Massachusetts native, began her comedy career at Bostons Emerson College with a routine based on a snowsuit-clad character named Uuna. She performed the act at venues throughout the city, but opted for new material in the summer when the snowsuit became less than comfortable to sport.

Since then Kappa has developed a dry and precise brand of comedy all her own. Her act, which features clean humor, draws on the experiences of her life. Now a resident of New York, Kappa has performed at venues such as the Luna Lounge, The HA! Fest, and the Toyota Comedy Festival. She has been a semifinalist in the Comedy Central "Laugh Riots" and recently appeared as the voice of "Clarisse the coffee shop girl" in the Cartoon Network series "Home Movies."
