Jazz guitar recital at UW-Stevens Point

Jazz guitarist Tyler Ross will perform a recital at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday, March 3.

The performance will be held in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event will be open to the public free of charge.

The program will include several original compositions by Ross such as "Bordering Holland," "Chamomile," "Through Leaves, Over Bridges," and "Half Good, Half Bad." The performance will also feature "Ornithology" by Charlie Parker, "Tune Up" by Miles Davis, "When I Fall in Love" by Victor Young, and "Misterioso" by Thelonious Monk.

Ross will be accompanied by Wayne Salzmann II, Neenah, on drums; John Chapman, Stevens Point, on acoustic bass; Eric Ross, Neenah, on electric bass; Kelvin Kaspar, Neenah, on guitar; Steve Radtke, Shawano, on piano; Lee Ilagan, Stevens Point, on bass; Jon Hoel, Madison, on tenor saxophone; Nathan Geralch, New London, on alto saxophone; and Mikel Avery on drums.

Ross, Neenah, is a senior majoring in Jazz studies-performance. A graduate of Neenah High School, this is Ross� fourth year at UWSP and he expects to graduate in December 2005. In the past several years, he has performed extensively with the Lights Band and his own trio. Members of both of those groups are among his accompanists for this performance.
