Childrens Movement Exploration Programs offered
The School of Health, Exercise Science and Athletics (HESA) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will offer a physical education program this spring for children, ages three to twelve.
The Movement Exploration Program will begin on Tuesday, February 14, and run through Thursday, May 4. The program will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the Indoor Track Multi-Activity Area of the Health Enhancement Center. The cost is $15 per child, or $10 per child when registering more than two children. Interested parties are asked to submit their registration by Thursday, February 9. Space is limited.
Families home schooling elementary children are welcome to participate.
The program is designed and run by university students studying either early childhood or elementary education and has a teacher to child ratio of 1:1 or 1:2. The small group environment focuses on gross development of motor skills, physical fitness, rhythms and dance, gymnastics and tumbling, and recreation skills. Children will be given the opportunity to use a variety of apparatus including balls, gym scooters, Hula-Hoops and jump ropes. Older children will have access to a variety of other sports and game equipment. The program is intended to be comprehensive, providing children with a variety of both movement and social skills.
For more information and a registration form, contact Nina Peterson, (715) 346-4415 or nina.peterson@uwsp.edu, or Colleen Evans-Fletcher, (715) 346-2125 or colleen.evans-fletcher@uwsp.edu.
