A physical education program will be offered this spring for children, ages three to twelve, through the School of Health, Exercise Science and Athletics (HESA) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The Motor Development Program is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Feb. 10, and conclude on Thursday, April 29. The program will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 until 11:45 a.m. at the Indoor Track Multi-Activity Area of the Health Enhancement Center. The cost is $15 per child, or $10 per child when registering more than two. Interested parties are asked to submit their registration by Monday, Feb. 2.

The program is designed and run by university students in either early childhood or elementary education and has a teacher to child ratio of 1:2 or 1:3. The small group environment focuses on gross development of motor skills, physical fitness, rhythms and dance, gymnastics and tumbling, and sports skills. Children will be given the opportunity to use a variety of apparatus including from balls, gym scooters, Hula-Hoops, jump ropes and a variety of other sports and game equipment. The program is intended to be comprehensive, providing children with a variety of both movement and social skills.
