Speaker to lecture on America and history
Harvey J. Kaye, director of the Center for History and Social Change at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, will present "Thomas Paine, the Promise of America and the Responsibility of History" at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday, April 6.
The event will be held in Room 310 of the College of Professional Studies Building from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The presentation will coincide with History 290, Introduction to Historical Methods and Historiography, and also will be open to the public free of charge.
Kaye is a Ben and Joyce Rosenberg Professor of Social Change and Development at UW-Green Bay. He holds a bachelor�s degree from Rutgers University, a master�s degree from the University of London, and a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University. Kaye has published seven books including "Thomas Paine and the Promise of America" and "Thomas Paine: Firebrand of the Revolution." He is a recent recipient of the Award for Excellence in Institutional Development from the UW-Green Bay Founders Association and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Before joining the faculty at UW-Green Bay he taught at Louisiana State University and St. Cloud University, Minnesota.
