Faculty voice recital at UW-Stevens Point

Tenor Daniel Ebbers will perform in a voice recital on Monday, February 23 at the University of Wisonsin-Stevens Point, accompanied by pianist Michael Keller.

The recital will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Fine Arts Center. Part of the Music Scholarship Series, admission is $6 for the general public, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for youth and free the day of the concert for students with UWSP IDs. Tickets are available at the UWSP Box Office, Room 103A University Center, 715-346-4100 or 800-838-3378, online at https://tickets.uwsp.edu/Wt3/ or at the door if the concert is not sold out in advance.

The program will begin with a premiere of an original composition, "Please Be Aware," by Aaron J. Marx of Wausau, a senior music literature major at UWSP. The text was written by Gerard McKenna, dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication.

Other selections include "Rencontre," "Toujours," and "Adieu" from Gabriel Faure�s "Poeme D�un Jour," "Oh! Quand je dors" by Franz Liszt, several selections from "Winter Words" by Benjamin Britten, and Paul Tosti�s "La Serenata," "Non T�amo Piu," and "Marechiare."

Ebbers will be assisted by violinist Eunice Cordero de Paz of Spain, violinist Emily J. Watson of Brookfield and cellist Heidi Corcoran of Stevens Point, all music education graduate students.

Ebbers, a lecturer in music, received a bachelor�s degree in applied voice from UWSP. As an undergraduate he won the Wisconsin State Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing vocal competition two years in a row and was the first and only student from UWSP to be the national winner of the Music Teacher�s National Association Collegiate Artist�s Competition. He received a master�s degree from the University of Southern California (USC) where he won the USC Opera Award twice. He has worked with distinguished artists such as Thomas Hampton and Placido Domingo and has performed in both Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall.

Keller, professor of music, has performed as soloist and accompanist throughout the U.S. and Great Britain. A member of the Lydian Trio, he has been featured as a soloist on Wisconsin Public Radio, the Dame Myra Hess Series in Chicago and St. Martin in the Fields in London, England. With degrees from Indiana State University and the University of Illinois, he has studied with Howard Karp and French pianist Marylene Dosse.

The son of Ruth Klee Marx, 619 Kent St., Wausau, and Ronald Marx, San Diego, Calif., Marx performs with the UWSP Symphony Orchestra and Quartetto Dolce. He has received the Pi Kappa Lambda Scholarship and the Donald Greene Scholarship.
