Soul Singer to perform at UW-Stevens Point
Soul singer Chinau Hawk will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday, February 10.
The performance, sponsored by Centertainment Productions, will be held in the Encore of the University Center (UC) beginning at 8 p.m. It will be free to students with a UWSP ID or $4 to the general public.
Hawk was born in New Jersey in 1975 and from a very young age, he has been honing his vocal skills. At the age of six, he joined the Pastors Choir at Friendship Baptist Church in Trenton. From there he worked his way into other choirs and finally to solo performances. Now his career includes such highlights as performing with Celine Dion, writing songs with Wyclef Jean, and appearing on a recording with rapper Talib Kwali. He has toured extensively, performing at dozens of college campuses around the country, and released CDs in the U.S., France, England, Japan, Switzerland, and Canada. Amazingly, Hawk has achieved all this with out a contract from a major recording label.
When asked what he would say to young artists trying to make it in the music business, he said, "Dont be afraid if they tell you no . . . Its just that simple. Faith moves mountains!"
