John Munson, professor of Health Promotion and Human Development (HPHD), has been appointed to the advisory board of the Medical Wellness Association (MWA).

Munson also has been appointed to the Education Committee of the American Lung Association of Milwaukee.

He will serve two-year terms with both organizations.

The MWA provides health promotion programs through hospitals around the country. The board includes experts in medicine, alternative health, wellness, gerontology, fitness and research. Each adviser is instrumental in developing guidelines, standards, programs, information and networking opportunities for members of the association.

For the Lung Association, Munson will serve on a panel of experts for outreach programming. His responsibilities include managing communications, program marketing and evaluation, regional expansion and research grants

Munson holds bachelor�s and doctoral degrees from The Ohio State University and a master�s degree from Springfield College in Massachusetts. He came to UWSP in 1975 and has served as a varsity coach and head of the School of Health Promotion and Human Development (HPHD). He has published numerous articles in professional journals and is a consultant and speaker throughout the U.S.
