Engelhard scholarship established at UWSP

A new $1,000 scholarship has been established by the Alumni Association at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to honor the longtime director of the Alumni Relations Office.

"The UWSP Alumni Association is very pleased to announce the Karen Engelhard Alumni Scholarship to honor Karen, for what she means to alumni across the country, for her dedicated service to her alma mater and her service to the university community," said Brant Bergeron, director of alumni relations. Engelhard, 4309 Janick Circle, Stevens Point, was director of the Alumni Relations Office for 20 years.

The first recipient of the award is Lauren Egan, New London, an elementary education major who was selected for her outstanding academic achievement and record of school and community involvement.

The award is based on the outstanding academic achievement and record of school and community involvement of a student planning a teaching career. It is renewable for three more years at UWSP for a total of $4,000 if the winner maintains eligibility requirements.
