Anstett named to new post
Deborah Anstett of Plover has been named director of development for the College of Professional Studies.
Anstett will develop plans for fund raising in the college where she earned her bachelors degree in 1974. In addition to a degree in communicative disorders, she holds a masters degree from UW-Madison.
"My first love is education," she said. "Im excited about what UWSP does to enhance and enrich our lives here in Central Wisconsin."
For example, area elementary and secondary teachers are trained in the School of Education and the Communicative Disorders Clinic provides needed services to the community and help for people with disabilities, she said.
"UWSP athletes serve as role models and mentors for young people and student volunteers are seen in all the schools and many of our community service organizations and businesses," she noted.
For 10 years before coming to UWSP, Anstett was a self-employed financial planner with American Express Financial Advisors in Stevens Point. From 1985 to 1989, she was director of UWSPs Educational Support Program, a federally funded program providing tutoring and study skills to disadvantaged youth. She was employed in adult education at Mid-State Technical College and UW-Extension. In addition, she served as a speech therapist in the Watertown school district.
Anstett serves as president of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra's board of directors, volunteers at the Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools, is a member of her parish stewardship committee and works with the Girl Scouts. She is a founding member of the Womens Fund of Portage County, a group dedicated to philanthropy by and for women.
