UW-Stevens Point student releases compact disc
Ben Peterson of Wisconsin Rapids, a music major at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, will release his first compact disc, "All My Joy." this month.
"I had a bunch of songs I'd written and with encouragement from family and friends, I realized it was time to share my music with others," said Peterson. His study of the Bible inspired him to write the songs on the album. He says the title track expresses his desire to give everything he has as an offering to God.
"I hope that Christians will be able to identify with these songs and that the message will reach others as well."
A junior music education and mathematics major at UWSP, Peterson learned about the incorporation of computer technology in composing and recording at the Department of Music's computer music center. He was able to use these skills during the CD's production.
The acoustic songs range in style from rock to folk and incorporate various instruments including piano, cello, bass, flute and oboe. Petersons sisters, Elizabeth and Becky, perform some of the background vocals and instrumentals.
Also assisting in the production were UWSP students Christy Donaldson, Appleton; Aimee Basler, Rudolph; and Dale Carlson, Wisconsin Rapids. Meas Vang, Stevens Point, designed the CD cover. Others assisting with the project were Shade Tree Audio, Stevens Point, Chicago Master Works, Chicago, and Accurate Audio, Wisconsin Rapids.
Peterson, 731 Baker St., and his sisters have performed at the Evangelical Free Church of Wisconsin Rapids, the Rainbow Valley Christian Music Festival in Wausau and at UWSP. They say they are seeking more occasions to play and hope the new CD will open new performance opportunities.
The CD is now available at local Christian bookstores.
