see also "Women's History Month events at UWSP"Proceeds from "The Vagina Monologues" to be performed at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, Wednesday, March 3 and Saturday, March 6, at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, are slated to support anti-violence programs.
Admission to the event in the University Center Laird Room is $3 with a valid UWSP student ID and $6 for the public if purchased in advance. Tickets can be purchased at CAP Services, 5499 Highway 10 East in Stevens Point, by phone, 715-346-4851, or e-mail, womenres@uwsp.edu. At the door, admission is $5 for students and $8 for the public. The event is sponsored by the Women�s Resource Center (WRC).
V-day, a worldwide campaign to raise awareness and stop violence towards women, gives communities the guidelines to stage their own productions of "The Vagina Monologues" to help support local charities. WRC has chosen Take Back the Night and Sexual Assault Victim Services to receive the donations. This is the first year the WRC has participated in V-Day.
Eve Ensler established V-day five years ago. Her play contains sections of more than 200 interviews conducted by Ensler with women about their views and experiences on the topic. Twenty-five women from campus are scheduled to participate in the program.
