Surveyors� Institute to be held in Green Bay

An Exhibitor�s Reception at Lambeau Field is just one of the highlights of the 57th annual Surveyors� Institute, held Wednesday through Friday, Jan 25-27, in Green Bay.

A professional forum and training conference, the institute will be held at the Green Bay KI Convention Center on Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. The event is sponsored by the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Continuing Education and Small Business Development Center.

Wendy Lathrop, a professional land surveyor and certified floodplain manager from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., will give two presentations on Wednesday, "Record Research: Paper vs. Ground Truth" and "Bell vs. Jones: A Case of Negligent Certification." A total of 20 breakout sessions are planned including presentations on FEMA mapping in Brown County, running a successful surveying business and condominium law.

The Exhibitor�s Reception will be held Wednesday evening at Lambeau Field. A guest program includes an ornament-making session on Wednesday and a Creative Memories "photo story" session on Thursday. Green Bay Packer Hall-of-Fame player and radio announcer Larry McCarren, sports director for WFRV-TV in Green Bay, will be the guest speaker at the Thursday evening Scholarship Banquet.

The registration fee for members is $230 ($280 after Jan. 13) and includes program materials and souvenir, certificate of participation, refreshments, Lambeau reception, two lunches and banquet. Single day registrations also are available and do not include the reception. Wednesday or Thursday only is $125 and Friday only is $85. Nonmember fees are $305 ($355 after Jan. 13), $155 for Wednesday or Thursday only, and $95 Friday only. Student fees are $30 ($50 after Jan. 13).
