UWSP Continuing Education offers trip to China
A University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point short-term study tour presents an opportunity to experience the culture of China.
The noncredit program for adults of all ages will be offered by UWSP Continuing Education, October 15 through November 4. The group will be led by George Kung, UWSP professor emeritus of math and computing.
Those participating will gain an understanding of Chinas cultural contrasts. Participants will visit the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Warriors, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and more. This tour will include explorations of relics from the past as well as modern cities.
Fluent in four dialects of Chinese, this is the sixth tour Kung has led. "George did an excellent job! He is full of information, helpful, kind and full of fun and humor, making the trip both educational and fun . . . The variety was amazing. Perfectly planned . . . I feel we got excellent value for the cost," said Jane Schoenecker, one of last years participants.
The estimated cost of $3,800 includes round trip airfare, lodging, flights within China, a 3-day river cruise, breakfast and most dinners, group ground transportation, most entrance fees, guide fees and instructional costs. Visa fees are not included.
Space is limited and early registration is recommended. For more information about the program, travel and accommodations, contact Kim OFlaherty, UWSP Continuing Education, (715) 346-2426 or koflaher@uwsp.edu.
