The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) will host "Under the Oaks: Spring celebration" at Schmeeckle Reserve on Saturday, April 26, honoring the reserve’s 30-year heritage.

The celebration will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Berard Oaks savanna in Schmeeckle Reserve, along North Point Drive. Admission is free for all.

An anniversary ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m., at which speakers from UWSP and the community will celebrate the origins and significance of Schmeeckle Reserve. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks while listening to local musicians. Discover the history of Schmeeckle Reserve from the perspective of 200-year-old oaks in a fun, interactive presentation, and end the night with a one-mile candlelight hike through the spring woods and shores of Lake Joanis.

Schmeeckle Reserve is a 265-acre nature preserve on the UWSP campus. The Visitor Center Browse Shop has gifts for all ages, including a wide variety of nature books and field guides.
