New developmental specialist hired in the College of Letters and Science

Holly Voll, Merrill, is the new development specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s College of Letters and Science.

The position was added to assist the college's 13 departments and 210 faculty members. Responsibilities include coordinating developmental activities, editing a collegewide newsletter, some public relations activities and fund raising. According to Justus Paul, dean of the College of Letters and Science, one of the reasons for adding the new position was to reconnect the college with its alumni.

Voll has an extensive background in writing and public relations. Before coming to UWSP, she worked with Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, the Cincinnati Speech and Hearing Center and the American Diabetes Association, Cincinnati, Ohio; the West Virginia Special Olympics, Parkersburg, W. Va.; and the Lakeland Times in Minocqua. She also raised funds for statewide flood relief in Ohio in 1995.

Voll has been a member of the Jaycees since 1991. She recently worked with the Northcentral Wisconsin Special Olympics to help coordinate its first polar bear plunge.

Dean Paul says Voll was chosen not only because of her experience, but also for her "genuine commitment to the liberal arts and sciences and an energy and enthusiasm which will sustain her through this effort."

Voll says she has come to UWSP because it offers an unparalleled opportunity. "The university has a reputation for excellence and the staff, faculty and students are open and friendly. It's a wonderful atmosphere."

A Wausau native, Voll graduated from D.C. Everest High School and received her bachelor’s degree from UW-Eau Claire.
