A construction law workshop will be offered in Stevens Point by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Designed to help people in the construction industry understand construction law in Wisconsin and how to work with attorneys, the workshop will be held January 26 at the Wisconsin Learning Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration fee is $125 per person or $115 per person if three or more people from the same organization attend. Price includes materials and refreshments. Deadline to register is January 23.

Topics include the legal requirements of a valid contract, rights and liabilities of parties to a contract, procedures for obtaining enforceable liens, legally collecting debts and remedies for breach of contract,.

Erv Steiner, a UW-Madison Law School graduate and practicing attorney with extensive experience in construction law, is the instructor. Steiner is also an associate professor in the College of Business at UW-Eau Claire where he has taught business law since 1972.
