Chicago City Limits bringing improv to Stevens Point

Picture (350x263, 60.2Kb)The improvisational comedy of Chicago City Limits will take the stage in Stevens Point on Thursday, March 29, as part of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Points Performing Arts Series.

The ensemble will perform "Taking Liberties" at 7:30 p.m. at Sentry Theater, using suggestions from the audience to create a show inspired by todays headlines, pop culture and the world at large.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $14 for senior citizens and $6 for youth. UWSP students with ID may buy tickets in advance for $4.50 or be admitted free the day of the show if seats remain.

Tickets may be purchased at the University Box Office, located at 200 Division Street, Stevens Point, between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets may also be ordered by phone at (715) 346-4100 or (800) 838-3378. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted.

Chicago City Limits has been called "hysterical and unpredictable" by the New York Times. Its method of improvisation, defined as "comedy without a net" by ensemble director Paul Zuckerman, offers a unique experience at each performance.

Founded in Chicago in 1977, the show relocated to New York two years later, established its own theatre and has had a continuous run of more than 8,500 performances. It is now New York Citys longest running show.

The national touring production has performed at Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian Institution, Super Bowl and at colleges and regional theaters across North America and Europe. Featured in its own TV news comedy series, "Reel News," Chicago City Limits has made several television appearances, has been featured on HBO, CNN and CNBC and has included guest artists Paul Reiser, Robin Williams and Brett Butler.
