International Dinner connects cultures
Enjoy an evening of food and entertainment from across the globe at the 36th annual International Dinner on Saturday, March 11, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point International Club.
The event will be held at the Laird Room in the Dreyfus University Center. This years theme, "Sea of Cultures," refers to the seas that connect the different cultures of the world and reflect the clubs motto, "One World for Peace."
A social hour begins at 5:15 p.m. in the centers LaFallotte Lounge, with hors doeuvres, a sale of cultural artifacts and silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the Foreign Student Program.
Dinner will follow in the Laird Room, with a menu to include dishes from Indonesia, Germany, Japan, the Balkans, Korea, Chile, the Middle East and China. Students will also entertain guests with dancing, music, fashion and talents that showcase a variety of cultures.
All seats are reserved for $15 per person and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests who would like to sit together must place their orders at the same time. Ticket order forms are available at the Foreign Student Office, 020 Student Services Center, 1108 Fremont St., or by calling (715) 346-3844.
One of the largest and most active student organizations on campus, the International Club is made up of both foreign and American students. The group promotes and encourages cultural exchange with opportunities for friendship, understanding and social interests. In addition to planning and hosting the International Dinner, the club is involved with the Portage County Cultural Festival, the Host Family Program, International Olympics and other events.
