Improving the understanding of financial information and its impact is the focus of an upcoming May workshop offered in Wausau by Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

"Finance and Accounting for the Non-financial Manager," a two-day workshop sponsored by the Small Business Development Center at UWSP, will be held at the new Center for Leadership Excellence and Economic Development located at 200 Washington Street, Suite 100, Wausau.

The workshop will be offered May 8 and 9 from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and will use a combination of lecture, discussion and hands-on case studies to ensure understanding and insights that can immediately be applied in the workplace. Topics covered include Financial Statement Concepts, Cash Flow and Financial Analysis, Capital Budgeting and Profit Center Management.

The instructor will be Charles A. Krueger, C.P.A., C.I.A., associate professor and department chair for executive education in the UW-Madison School of Business, who directs and teaches programs in finance, accounting, business management and related fields. He is an active member in a number of professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants (I.M.A.). He received the I.M.A.’s prestigious Gold Medal/Lybrand Award for outstanding contributions to the field of accounting literature.
