The 15^th annual Hunger Clean Up, sponsored by the Association for Community Tasks (A.C.T.) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A nationwide and community event, the Hunger Clean Up raises money for various hunger and homelessness programs. Volunteers raise pledges from sponsors by spending work hours on a community project such as cleaning parks, washing school buses, painting and doing yard work.

Fifty percent of the funds raised go to Operation Bootstrap of Portage County for those in need of food and emergency help. The rest of the funds are donated to national and international hunger programs.

A.C.T. is a service learning organization at UWSP that provides students with opportunities to volunteer in the community. In the past years, more than 1,200 students have contributed approximately 9,000 hours of service projects with various agencies, schools and programs in the Stevens Point area.
