Green Tea to perform at UW-Stevens Point

Green Tea, a local band specializing in high energy Irish dance music and "Celtic world beat," will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday, February 23.

The concert will be held at 8 p.m. at the Encore of the Dreyfus University Center. Admission will be $4 for the general public and free for students with a UWSP ID. The event is sponsored by Centertainment Productions.

Green Tea plays an eclectic mix of world music intended for everyone from grandparents to college students. Fusing Celtic world-beat with contemporary jazz improvisation, the bands sound is truly unique. The group is composed of John Coletta, a UWSP English professor, on tin whistle, Irish flute, harmonium, djembe, hands, and vocals; Fritha Schedgick on violin; David Tamres, a UWSP physics and astronomy professor, on mandolin and guitar; Cathy Woodruff on bodhran, mandolin and djembe; and Trevor Roark on guitar, bodhran, spoons, bones and vocals. The band released their first album "All Ages" in September 2004.
