Student percussion recital at UWSP
Benjamin Petree, a senior majoring in music performance at the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), will perform in a percussion recital on
Sunday, April 19.
The recital will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts
Center. The performance is open to the public free of charge.
The program will feature “Interlude #1” and “Prelude for Drumset” by Petree.
Other pieces include “Rosanna” by David Paich, “Arms of a Woman” by Amos Lee,
“SexyBack” by Justin Timberlake, “Twentysomething” by Jamie Cullum, “Arrival”
by Michael Mitchell and “Wheel” by John Mayer.
Petree will be accompanied by Chris Dalzell on piano and voice, Michael
Mitchell on keyboards and voice, Benjamin Hedquist on bass, Matthew Callope
on trumpet, Jonathan Hoel on tenor saxophone and Heidi Oberstadt on accordion
and voice.
Petree has performed in jazz clubs in New York City and London and with the
National Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2006. Petree has
also performed with UWSP’s Mostly Percussion Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra,
Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos and Concert Choir.
Petree is the son of Donna and Johnny Petree of Wausau and a 2003 graduate
of Wausau East High School.
