SBDC offers construction law workshop
A construction law workshop will be offered in Stevens Point in
February through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Designed to help people in the construction industry understand
construction law in Wisconsin and how to work with attorneys,
the workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on February 20,
2009, at the Wisconsin Learning Center in the Portage County
Business Park.
Topics include the legal requirements of a valid contract,
rights and liabilities of parties to a contract, procedures
for obtaining enforceable liens, legally collecting debts,
and remedies for breach of contract.
The instructor is Erv Steiner, a UW-Madison Law School graduate
and practicing attorney with extensive experience in construction
law. Steiner is also an associate professor in the College of
Business at UW-Eau Claire, where he has taught business law
since 1972.
The registration fee is $125 per person or $115 per person if
three or more people from the same organization attend. The
fee includes materials and refreshments. The deadline to
register is February 12, 2009.
