Read through Unit II by December 3, 2006.  Respond to Unit II Discussion Assignment by December 3, 2006.

Pick your favorite or unique or obscure vegetable, beverage or spice species (preferably one that had not been covered in the readings) and report on its origin, history, and uses.  You don't have to limit your source of information to the internet.  Feel free to research your information from books, journals, magazine, etc. Limit your answer to about a page.
