Course Information

NRES 400/600: Wisconsin Environmental Studies is a three credit web-based course offered through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  The historical, natural, social, and economic factors that influence the quality of Wisconsin’s environment will be explored.  Major theme areas include: Conservation History, Ecological Foundations, Biodiversity, Water, Land, Energy, Air, Environmental Health, and Environmental Quality and the Future.  

This course is open to everyone, except: 

on-campus students by permission of instructor only. 

Course Mission:

To increase awareness and develop participant interests and literacy in Wisconsin environmental content, issues, and ideas.

Course Delivery: Online web-based instruction

Meeting Times: Semi-synchronous over a 10-week period

The course is 10 weeks in duration. There are 8 Reflection Written Assignments (500 words each), 3 Written Assignments (1500 words each), and continuous Discussion.  It is strongly recommended that students progress through each week with the entire class.
